Responsibilities

- Control and safeguard DEPAP product recipes,
specs and material data
- Lead regional product development/maintenance programs,
including new raw material qualification, to meet the market
needs in Asia Pacific
- Transfer new product technology from global R&T, including
participating in regular PERM (Project Evaluation and Review
Meetings) phone conferences with Global R&T
- Resolve customers' material technical problems which are too
complex to be handled by local ADTS via an optimal combination
of fundamental and pragmatic approaches.
This requires visiting customers to understand thoroughly
the problems and then developing solution by interacting
with material scientists in Global R&T or designing experiments
in regional testing lab.
- In collaboration with relevant colleagues-Product Data Officer
and GTPM's-resolve environmental management
(absence declaration of hazardous substances)
and regulatory issues like UL and FDA
- Responsible for improving and safeguarding the material
technical level of BDM and ADTS in DEPAP
- Provide technical training internally in AP and externally to customers

Authorities:
- Approve active product books in DEPJ and DEPI
- Decide technical contents of product development
and product maintenance projects in DEPJ and DEPI
- Decide material technical training contents for both internal
and external training in AP
- Management of Product Development Specialist(s) in AP,
including appraisals, expense reports, training programs
and recruiting.

Requirements

- Ph.D. degree in Material Science, Polymer Science,
or Chemical Engineering
- High-level knowledge on plastic material science,
including properties, processing, testing and applications.
- Basic knowledge about ingredients of plastic compounds:
base polymers, reinforcing fillers, flame retardants, stabilizers,
mold release agents, etc.
- At least 5-year plastic R&D work experience in a global
chemical/plastic company which manufactures plastic materials.
Hands-on experience on injection molding.
- Plastic material (neat polymer or compound) development experience.
- Experience in direct interaction with customers
- Fluent spoken and written English and Mandarin
- Capable of being both conceptual/strategic and operational,
with good business sense and problem solving skills
- A team player with good interpersonal skills
